What Could Fastbraces Do For Your Smile?
- November 1, 2017
You’ve wanted to do something about your smile for years, but you haven’t done it for one simple reason.
You don’t want to be stuck with braces on your teeth for two years or possibly longer.
You just can’t bear the thought of wearing braces for that long as an adult. But what if you didn’t have to? What if you could get to the end of your treatment in less than half of the time of traditional braces?
Dr. Doug Forbes has been helping patients in Columbia, SC improve their smiles for years, and Fastbraces is one of the most efficient orthodontic services that you will find.
Why They Are Called Fastbraces
For starters, some patients can complete orthodontic care in as little as four months. Many patients are finished in six months, and nearly all patients are done in a year or less.
That’s not overnight, but it’s much shorter treatment time than you will have with traditional braces.
Fastbraces are also different from some other short-term orthodontic options. These can work great if your focus is strictly on making cosmetic improvements to your smile. In contrast, Fastbraces can improve your smile and fix oral health-related issues at the same time.
Fastbraces are real braces, but they work faster.
How Fastbraces Work
To fully explain Fastbraces, we need to start by reminding you how braces have worked.
People have known for thousands of years that teeth can be moved by applying pressure to them. (From written records from ancient Rome, we know they used to push on teeth with their fingers, to give you one example.)
Over time, people developed oral appliances to push and pull teeth where they wanted them to go. As our knowledge of oral anatomy improved, so did the devices.
For a long time, braces were the standard for moving teeth. Today, you can still have the rectangular or square brackets bonded to your teeth. Then an archwire will be run between the brackets. Together (sometimes with assistance from small rubber bands) they will move your teeth in stages.
The first stage involves realigning the crowns of your teeth. This can take about a year. During the second stage, the roots of your teeth are repositioned to complete your treatment. This, too, takes about a year.
The final step is wearing a retainer to keep your teeth in their new positions. (You will need to wear a retainer with Fastbraces, too.)
Fastbraces are the next step in advanced orthodontic care, and it starts with the brackets.
Fastbraces use a unique triangular bracket combined with high-tech archwires. The way they apply pressure allows them to move your crowns and roots at the same time.
This leap forward in design is why you can complete your orthodontic treatment much, much sooner.
What Problems Fastbraces Can Fix
The short answer is that Fastbraces can correct the same problems as traditional braces. To give you a better idea, here is a more detailed list of problems:
▹ Open bites
▹ Crooked teeth
▹ Crowded teeth
▹ Gaps between teeth
