Fastbraces: (S)miles Ahead Of The Pack
- August 1, 2017
Imagine that you are at Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend for two days of racing. You’ve been looking forward to seeing a race in person for years, and now you finally have the chance.
Now try to imagine one or two cars zipping along at two or three times the speed of the rest of the field. Whatever those teams figured out would undoubtedly change the sport of racing.
We may not have anything quite as exciting as a NASCAR race at our dentist office in Columbia, SC, but we are offering what we consider game-changing technology.
Fastbraces® are a new approach to orthodontic care that can help you complete your treatment in less than half the time it would take with traditional braces.
If you or someone you love is thinking of getting braces, then you owe it to yourself to set up a consultation with Dr. Doug Forbes at Total Dental Care of South Carolina. You can call us at 803-272-4162, or you can contact us by filling out our online form.
What Braces Do Right
Braces have been around for decades because they work.
If you want straight teeth, braces can make them straight. If you want to close gaps between your teeth, braces will close those gaps. If you want to correct an overbite, braces will get your bite in line.
Put simply, braces are an effective way to change the appearance of your smile. By the end of your treatment, you can have the kind of smile that gives you a greater sense of self-confidence.
But that’s not the only reason to straighten your teeth. There are health benefits as well.
If someone with crowded teeth tried to floss, he might not be able to clean between some of them. Bacteria can get into those spaces, and that could increase his risk of gum disease.
Someone with crooked teeth may have places where her teeth overlap one another. This could prevent her from brushing those spots, and that might cause her to develop cavities where should could not scrub her teeth.
By moving teeth so they are straight and evenly spaced, our example patients can brush and floss on all sides.
What Fastbraces Do Better
With any technology, people are always looking for ways to make it better. As good as traditional braces are, they have some limitations.
The system of square brackets and wires will move teeth where they need to go … eventually. During the first stage, braces move the crowns of someone’s teeth. This can take a year or more in some cases. During the second stage, braces reposition the roots of teeth. This can take another year or so.
It’s not unusual for someone to wear traditional braces for two years or longer. So, what if you could get those same results in 12 months, 9 months, even as little as 5 months in some cases. That’s what Fastbraces can do.
Fastbraces are a more efficient way of moving teeth and changing smiles. This starts with Fastbraces’ unique triangular brackets and high-tech wires. Together, this allows you to move your crowns and roots at the same time instead of in stages.
This drastically reduces the total time you need to wear your braces and allows you to start flashing your new smile in selfies, on social media, and in-person social events even sooner.
